Malaysian performance reward specialists Vimigo looks to scale new teams in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam by 2025
Gamified HR app uses AI to create individual employee performance metrics and aims to drive smarter talent retention across the region
Vimigo also aims to raise another RM20 million in seed funding by year-end
Kuala Lumpur, 11 August 2023 — Vimigo, Malaysia’s leading human resource (HR) performance reward system for startups, has announced a two-pronged expansion plan after securing RM2.25 million via equity crowdfunding (ECF) on PitchIN. The brand has set its sights on market growth across Southeast and East Asia, as well as product research and development to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) use in the wider HR landscape.
The expansion of its performance rewards technology into new markets aims to help regional HR practitioners turn their organisations into top destinations for talent, particularly in the fiercely competitive, globally-inclined business environment in Asia.
Building off its experience navigating a multicultural market in Malaysia, Vimigo looks to bring its expertise in managing diverse talent pools to six new markets by 2025. The brand is expanding into neighbouring Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines in 2024, followed by Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan the following year.
“Having grown over the last five years in Malaysia, we’re now ready to take the next step: bringing our technology across borders. With this investment, Vimigo is poised to work even more closely with businesses across Southeast Asia to understand their unique landscape of work and help them empower their employees — especially as workplaces become more diverse and dynamic,” expressed Shane Mun, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vimigo.

Levelling up workplace engagement with gamified AI
In addition to market expansion, Vimigo will also be using the funds raised to develop an AI-powered HR mobile app. The app will utilise AI to suggest SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound) goals for each employee’s key performance metrics. Vimigo’s app also analyses current data and performance trends across teams within an organisation and is designed to provide management with actionable insights to drive productivity and results.
These metrics will then be intelligently tied to an in-app gamified performance rewards system, with the aim of creating tangible progression milestones that motivate employees to approach tasks and responsibilities with a sense of excitement — or what Vimigo calls “akin to levelling up in a game”. The app is currently slated for release on iOS, Android, and web in the last quarter of 2023.
“Our primary goal as we scale the business is to continue pushing the boundaries of the HR spaces and innovating with new forms of technology. Beyond just staying ahead of the curve, we believe in delivering greater value to the employers who use our platform and helping them manage workforces more easily. We are actively working towards meaningful relationships with investors and fellow innovators who share this same vision: to transform the way businesses drive success in the workplace,” added Mun.
Following its ECF success — which brings its current valuation to RM55 million — Vimigo now aims to secure RM20 million in a seed funding round this year.
